Het werd me koud om 't hart toen ik vandaag hoorde dat Arjen Grolleman overleden is. We deelden de passie voor radio en muziek, meestal een bron voor hevige discussies, vrijwel altijd eindigend in overeenstemming. Ik vond hem één van de meest gepassioneerde en integere radiomakers van Nederland. Ik ga je missen, goeie radiovriend. "Er is niets mooier dan mensen overtuigen van jouw muzieksmaak. Het is een roeping." Hilversum, 20 januari 2010 - Met verbijstering en ongeloof maken Kink FM, Vereniging Veronica en Veronica Holding bekend dat Arjen Grolleman op woensdag 20 januari jl. plotseling is overleden. Arjen voerde samen met Jantien van Tol het management van radiostation Kink FM, waar hij al sinds de start in september 1995 nauw bij betrokken was. Alle medewerkers van Kink FM en de andere onderdelen van Veronica Holding wensen familie en vrienden van Arjen veel sterkte toe met dit grote verlies. Guido van Nispen, algemeen directeur Veronica Holding: "In Arjen verliezen we een inspirerende en bevlogen collega die een heel eigen stempel heeft gedrukt op de Nederlandse mediawereld. We zullen ons Arjen blijven herinneren als een fantastische collega en een uniek persoon die met zijn geheel eigen stijl door de jaren heen miljoenen luisteraars heeft weten te boeien." An anonymous reader writes "A member of the band OK Go wrote an interesting open letter giving an artist's perspective on the current state of the music business and how labels finance producing, distributing, and marketing music and music videos. A very insightful perspective of 'both sides': the argument that music and music videos are meant to be heard and, in the case of the latter, seen by a wide audience; and the argument that the money needs to come from somewhere. Unfortunately, the letter doesn't address the perspective outsiders have of outlandish salaries in the music labels, but it is interesting nonetheless." Their new video is not bad either. Apple isn't going to use LaLa to launch a subscription service, a "variety of insider sources" have told the founder of MP3.com. It's exactly what we speculated: Storing your iTunes library in the cloud and access it from anywhere. It's a bit hard to tell where his insider sources stop and his own thoughts begin, but Robertson says that the next version of iTunes will integrate one of LaLa's premiere features: scanning you entire music library, and letting you access the whole thing from the internet (it uploads any songs it doesn't already have on the service), via a "personal URL using a browser-based iTunes experience," not to mention from your iPhone.
